Timpanogos Chorale

Member Information

Timpanogos Chorale welcomes you as a member. We are unique in that we are like a large family. Many lifelong friendships are made through affiliation of singing in a chorale. It is our sincere wish that you have a pleasant and rewarding experience while singing with us.

A standard of excellence is expected of us by our audiences. We strive to achieve this in each rehearsal and in every performance. It is therefore expected that each member assumes responsibility for maintaining the highest possible attendance and participation. Membership in Timpanogos Chorale is a privilege which requires dedication and professionalism. The following standards of conduct and commitment have been adopted to maintain our reputation and to achieve our objectives.

  1. Active membership is appreciated and recruitment is encouraged as we strive to become a balanced SATB chorale. Auditions are held semi-annually (January & August) for new members to be placed vocally.

  2. Annual membership donation is $30.00 (subject to change) and is not refundable. It is, however, TAX DEDUCTIBLE. This is payable annually and is due within the first month of rehearsals. Timpanogos Chorale is a non-profit organization. Donations are used to purchase music for the library, to pay for music rental fees & ASCAP fees, venue fees and advertising expenses. Paying dues contribute to members’ sense of responsibility, value and commitment.

  3. Each active member will have the opportunity to purchase music (not mandatory). The chorale owns some music which is available to loan and also provides black music folders to singers who need one. Members must purchase their own Timpanogos Chorale approved concert attire. (See New Member information page.)

  4. All active members are expected to participate for one full season (three concerts per year.)

  5. The music director will begin and end rehearsals on time.

Members are expected to be in their seats ready to start rehearsal promptly and should give their undivided attention to the director. Members are requested not to leave rehearsals before being dismissed.

Non-singing business will be conducted before, after or during a break in rehearsals.

  6. Attendance at all dress rehearsals and performances are mandatory. Plan to attend all regular rehearsals in preparation for each concert. If you miss more that three rehearsals, you will be required to pass a proficiency test (administered in a group) with the director in order to participate in the performance.

  7. Members are expected to make every effort to learn notes and words before rehearsals so that rehearsal time may be spent on such matters as ensemble and interpretation. (See New Member Information for downloading practice music)

  8. Timpanogos Chorale is non-sectarian and non-political. Members are expected to conduct themselves accordingly when on official business or representing the chorale.
